The intersection of Eatons Crossing Road and Lilley Road, which intersects the suburbs of Cashmere, Warner and Eatons Hill, has received upgrades following a campaign from Seath Holswich MP and Tim Mander MP to improve safety at the location.

Member for Pine Rivers, Mr Seath Holswich, expressed his relief at seeing the upgrades completed.

"This intersection has been a cause for concern for many local residents and I'm pleased to see these significant safety improvements completed."

"I would like to thank the local residents - primarily from Cashmere and Warner - who have contacted me during 2013 to raise their concerns about this intersection."

"This upgrade is a good example of community and government working together to achieve a positive outcome for our community."

The upgrades are:
• A reduction of the speed limit on Eatons Crossing Rd approaching Lilley Rd from 80kmh to 70kmh
• Installation of "70kmh zone ahead" signs in advance of the speed limit change
• All line markings repainted for high visibility
• A significant number of new reflective road pavement markers have been installed to provide better visibility at night and during wet weather

Member for Everton, Mr Tim Mander, has urged motorists to drive responsibly around this intersection.

"We are pleased to have been able to provide improvements to this intersection, but road safety comes down to drivers taking personal responsibility and I urge all drivers to drive with care at this intersection."

"As we enter the Christmas period, it is important all drivers observe the fatal five and drive carefully on our roads."

Last Christmas (December 23 to January 3), six people were killed and a further 163 were hospitalised as a result of crashes on Queensland roads.

The intersection of Eatons Crossing Road and Lilley Road has also been added to the Safer Roads Sooner program and will be assessed against other road safety projects throughout the state for additional funding and upgrades.

The Safer Roads Sooner program focuses on implementing road safety measures at sites with a high crash history or an identified crash risk.
