Mount Mee Rd Reconstruction Update

The Department of Transport and Main Roads have advised that the contract has been awarded for repairs to damage sustained on Mount Mee Road during the rain event in early 2013.

The reconstruction of Mount Mee Road is part of a $17.6 million package of works that involves repairs to 12 roads in North Coast Region.
It is anticipated crews will start construction in the first quarter of 2014 and timeframes for construction will be communicated to local communities and motorists.

Other roads in this package of works are Obi Obi, Woombye-Montville, Landsborough-Maleny, Maleny-Montville, Montville-Mapleton, Kenilworth-Brooloo, Kin Kin, Mount Glorious, Esk-Kilcoy, Kilcoy-Murgon and Esk-Hampton roads. Reconstruction works on these roads will include earthworks, slope stabilisation and repairs to slips and pavement.

Across North Coast Region, which includes Sunshine Coast, Moreton and Somerset council areas, more than $250 million is being invested to repair more than 400 sites damaged during natural disasters between 2010 and 2013.

Eligible reconstruction works under Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) are funded 75% by the Australian Government and 25% from the Queensland Government.
