Gateway Delay Disappointing for Business (Letter to the Editor)

Dear Editor,

It was with much disappointment that I read the Pine Rivers Press article (5th September) confirming that the Strathpine Gateway project has been delayed by a further three years.

Future rejuvenation on and around Gympie Rd through Strathpine and Lawnton is crucial for the ongoing economic success of our region. Strathpine and Lawnton are ideally positioned on major public transport routes and have the expanding Brendale industrial precinct closeby.

Existing businesses in Strathpine and Lawnton need ongoing support from government at all levels to ensure their ongoing viability. Government support is also needed to attract more new businesses to our region.

A project such as Strathpine Gateway will provide a significant boost to the local economy. I certainly appreciate that Moreton Bay Regional Council only have a limited budget for new capital projects, but I hope that the significance of this project to our community will see it undertaken without further delays.

I have been working with Council on various aspects of the project to date, and will continue to work closely with Council to provide State Government input to the project.
