Local Firefighters Awarded for Diligent Service
Two local firefighters were today awarded with medals for distinguished service to the community at a ceremony at Kedron Park Emergency Services Complex.
Mr Seath Holswich MP attended the ceremony where Auxiliary Captain Scott Dun from Dayboro Auxiliary Fire Station and Senior Firefighter Mark Millanta from Eatons Hill Fire Station were each awarded the National Medal for 15 years service.
The awards were presented by Minister for Police and Community Safety, The Honourable Jack Dempsey MP and Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) Commissioner Lee Johnson.
"It was a privilege to attend the ceremony to see two of our local firefighters honoured for their years of selfless service to our community and our state," Mr Holswich said.
"I have nothing but respect and gratitude for the members of QFRS and the outstanding job they do in our local community."
"Their roles go well beyond just fighting fires and include attending serious traffic crashes, conducting building safety checks and running community education programs."
"The Pine Rivers community is a safer community because of the hard work our local QFRS personnel undertake."
The Pine Rivers electorate is home to Eatons Hill Fire Station, Dayboro Auxiliary Fire Station and Rural Fire Brigades at Dayboro, Samsonvale and Ocean View.
