Hands On Tourism Experience for Pine Rivers MP

State Member for Pine Rivers, Mr Seath Holswich, will be undertaking volunteer duties with local Tourist Information Centres to gain firsthand exposure to the local tourism industry.

The voluntary work will be part of Mr Holswich's pre-election commitment to spend "a day in the life of" various sections of the Pine Rivers community each quarter.

Mr Holswich will be spending time at both Strathpine and Dayboro Tourist Information Centres on Thursday 20th September.

"I have made tourism one of my key focus areas since the election," Mr Holswich said. "I believe it is a relatively untapped industry in our local economy and has great potential to bring more jobs into our region."

"The Newman Government is committed to reducing unemployment to 4% in 6 years, and supporting our local tourism industry is one way we can ensure that target is reached and that there are more jobs available in our community."

"Over the past few months I have met with many local tourism operators and to ensure I get a broad exposure to the local industry, I am looking forward to spending time working in these Tourist Information Centres."

Last quarter Mr Holswich spent "a day in the life of" families who have been impacted by acquired brain injuries.

Mr Holswich will continue his "day in the life of" commitment in coming months and is keen to receive suggestions for suitable future opportunities.
