Night Road Works for AJ Wyllie Northbound Bridge
Night works and lane closures are scheduled to occur throughout September as part of the new northbound AJ Wyllie Bridge construction at Petrie.
Member for Kallangur Trevor Ruthenberg said significant progress had been made at the construction site.
"Motorists will notice the new northbound bridge really begin to take shape, with contractors having made significant progress," Mr Ruthenberg said.
"In order for them to continue, there will be some traffic changes to allow construction to get underway."
"Works will involve building the centre median north and south of the bridge, including removing the existing guardrail, concreting and installing kerb."
"To avoid disruption to day traffic, night works are scheduled to occur from between 9pm and 5am, Sunday 2 September to Thursday, 20 September, excluding Friday and Saturday, weather permitting."
"Every effort will be made to minimise noise and traffic impacts during this time and there will be police and traffic control on site."
Member for Pine Rivers Seath Holswich thanked road users for their cooperation during the bridge replacement project and reminded them to drive to the changed conditions at all times.
"Aside from temporary lane closures for night works, the southbound bridge is open to one lane in each direction during construction of the northbound bridge," Mr Holswich said.
"It's likely further night lane closures will be required as works progress, but we'll keep the community informed of changed conditions."
"The new northbound bridge is on track to be opened to two lanes of traffic by the end of 2012, weather permitting."
