Families and garden lovers will be able to enjoy a great day out at Pine Rivers Park with new funding to be provided for a new local event.

$40,000 will be provided to the Brisbane International Garden Show, a new event to be held at Pine Rivers Park from 9th to 11th October 2015. The show aims to present a stylish, high quality event of a national and international standard that will be the flagship gardening event for Queensland.

Funds provided through Tourism and Events Queensland’s Regional Development Program (RDP) will continue to help grow the economy and create local jobs.

Member for Pine Rivers, Mr Seath Holswich, said the announcement further demonstrates the Government’s ongoing commitment to supporting events that play a vital role in attracting visitors.

“Funding will go towards marketing activities to increase awareness of the event and destination, strategic planning, the engagement of short-term personnel and hire of temporary infrastructure,” said Mr Holswich.

“This new event will continue to put Pine Rivers at the forefront of high quality tourism events.”

Mr Holswich said the program formed part of the Government’s plan to grow overnight visitor expenditure to $30 billion by 2020 with regional events providing a year round tourism boost.

“Applications for the next round of the RDP are now open for events held between 1 October 2015 and 31 March 2017, and I encourage local event organisers to apply.
