The importance of Moreton Bay Region was recognised last week when three local MPs were appointed to Assistant Minister roles during a ceremony at Government House.

Member for Pine Rivers, Mr Seath Holswich, was appointed to the position of Assistant Minister for Natural Resources and Mines.

“I am honoured to take on this role in a government that has a strong plan for a better future for Queensland,” Mr Holswich said.

“I am committed to our government’s plan to build a strong four pillar economy and I look forward to playing my part, particularly in the resources sector, but also across the agriculture, construction and tourism pillars of our economy.”

Other Moreton Bay MPs to take on new roles are Pumicestone MP, Ms Lisa France, who was promoted to Assistant Minister for Finance, Administration and Regulatory Reform and Nanango MP, Mrs Deb Frecklington (whose electorate takes in the Kilcoy region), who was appointed as Assistant Minister to the Premier.

Mr Holswich’s responsibilities in this portfolio will include:

  • Supporting the responsible and productive growth of the CSG and LNG industry;
  • Developing strategies to address issues associated with abandoned mine sites;
  • Leading consultation on the second phase of State Land Management Reform; and
  • Supporting the Minister in managing the newly signed ResourcesQ Partnership Agreement, especially as it relates to skills development and employment opportunities in the resources sector

“My primary focus will continue to be to build a better Pine Rivers and serving my electorate, but I look forward to contributing to a stronger Queensland in this new role.”
