PINE RIVERS VOLUNTEERS GIVEN BOOST DURING VOLUNTEER WEEK
Pine Rivers volunteer organisations have benefitted from two free training sessions during National Volunteer Week.
The training sessions, an initiative of Pine Rivers MP, Mr Seath Holswich, gave volunteers information about building an online community through social media as well as hints for writing successful grant applications.
Mr Holswich said these sessions were delivering on one of his top five priorities for 2014.
“I made a commitment at the start of the year to support and strengthen our local community organisations this year and these free sessions are one step in delivering on that commitment,” Mr Holswich said.
“Last night’s sessions benefitted around 70 volunteers from nearly 40 Pine Rivers community organisations.”
Mr Holswich stated that these volunteer organisations are the backbone of our local community.
“When I talk about our community working towards building a better Pine Rivers, these are the people who are giving their time voluntarily to make that happen every day – it is an honour to support them and the work they do.”
For organisations who were unable to attend the training sessions, a copy of the information distributed in last night’s session is available at www.seathholswich.com
