Pine Rivers community organisations will be offered free training in utilizing social media and writing effective grant applications, in a Volunteer Week training session organised by Seath Holswich MP.

The training, to take place on Thursday 15th May, is being provided as part of Mr Holswich’s commitment to support local community organisations.

“Supporting local community organisations is one of my five priority areas for 2014 and I am pleased to make these opportunities available for our dedicated local volunteers,” Mr Holswich said.

“Social media is an important marketing tool for community organisations and grant writing is essential to provide funding boosts for valuable community projects.”

“These workshops will be facilitated by experts in these fields – the social media trainer works full time in social media and we’ll have an expert grant writer on hand as well to impart their knowledge.”

Every community organisation based in the Pine Rivers electorate is invited to send up to three representatives to the training evening. Interested organisations based outside Pine Rivers electorate will be placed on a waiting list and offered places if any remain available once rsvp’s close.

“I am writing to every community organisation in Pine Rivers this week with the details and would strongly advise groups to rsvp early to ensure they secure a place.”
