Work Starting on Lawnton to Petrie Rail Upgrade
A significant upgrade for the Caboolture and Sunshine Coast train line will begin shortly and will deliver additional capacity on the lines.
Member for Pine Rivers, Mr Seath Holswich, Member for Kallangur, Mr Trevor Ruthenberg and Member for Murrumba, Mr Reg Gulley, said the Newman Government was deliver better planning and better rail infrastructure to meet future demand.
"As work begins to ramp up on the new line to Redcliffe, Pine Rivers residents will also start to see a lot of activity within the rail corridor between Lawnton and Petrie," Mr Holswich said.
"This is a $168.8 million state government-funded project which will be delivered by Queensland Rail and the Moreton Bay Rail Link Project Team."
"The additional rail tracks between Lawnton and Petrie Stations will deliver improved freight and passenger transport operations on the Caboolture line, unlocking capacity in the rail network to deliver better services," Mr Ruthenberg added.
"The extra capacity will allow additional passenger services from the new Moreton Bay Rail line to connect into the Metropolitan rail network," Mr Gulley said.
Local residents and businesses who may be impacted by the works between Lawnton and Petrie will receive advance notifications of significant project works from the Moreton Bay Rail Link Project Team.
