Business Discount Schemes Help Local Seniors and Carers Save Money
Seniors and carers in Pine Rivers and Kallangur are enjoying a lower cost of living after the Seniors and Carers Business Discount scheme was introduced by the Newman Government.
Member for Pine Rivers, Seath Holswich said the scheme gave local residents who hold a Seniors Card, Seniors Business Discount Card or Carer Business Discount Card access to great savings on a wide range of products and services from a number of local business outlets.
"Under Labor, the cost of living was spiralling out of control, but with the Newman Government, Trevor and I promised to make things easier for Pine Rivers and Kallangur families and the discount scheme delivers on this," Mr Holswich said.
"The 2013-14 discount directory offers seniors and carers discounts on everything from insurance, flowers, travel and accommodation, to clothing, home improvement services, restaurants and health services."
Communities Minister Tracy Davis said more than 7,000 businesses had signed up to the Newman Government's 2013-2014 business discount schemes across the state.
Member for Kallangur, Trevor Ruthenberg said cardholders can also go online to locate business discount providers or for a full list of directory pick-up points using the searchable database available at www.qld.gov.au/seniorscard or www.qld.gov.au/carercard.
"The website is also compatible with smartphones, enabling seniors and carers to find local business discount providers from wherever they are in Queensland," Mr Ruthenberg said.
"Cardholders can still find the latest offers from participating businesses in Kallangur and Pine Rivers in the 2013-2014 Business Discount Directory, which is now available from a range of local pick-up points, including our electorate offices and local libraries.
"I encourage any seniors and carers who do not currently hold a Seniors or Carers Business Discount Card to go online to find out if they're eligible and apply for a card."
