07/11/2013

The Hon Peter Dutton MP, Federal Member for Dickson, in conjunction with Trevor Ruthenberg MP, State Member for Kallangur and Seath Holswich MP, State Member for Pine Rivers, has organised a Careers Expo to assist local people in future career options. Tienda comprar casas de madera para vivir.

The Expo will be held on the 12th of November at Strathpine Community Centre, Mecklem St Strathpine fFrom 10am - 3pm.

The Expo will provide a forum for local jobseekers to explore potential employment and training options and to provide local employers an opportunity to showcase their company and provide feedback to potential employees.

The idea was founded after the announcement earlier this year that the Amcor Petrie Mill site would close by the end of 2013, resulting in a large number of job losses in the local area.

"Our office has been in contact with Amcor who have informed all local employees, who lost their jobs as part of the closure, about the Expo," Mr Ruthenberg said.

"The Careers Expo will be a great opportunity for job seekers to pick up new skills by attending one of the workshops held throughout the day, as well as speaking to potential employers," Mr Holswich said.

"There are over 40 stallholders attending on the day, including Job Network Providers, local employers, and Australia-wide companies," Mr Dutton said.

Anne Stott from Sarina Russo Job Access said that the Strathpine Office is looking forward to attending the Careers Expo and holding a workshop on the day.

"It is a great opportunity for all involved to showcase the employment and training opportunities available in the local area," Ms Stott said.

Australian Brick and Blocklaying Training Foundation's Queensland Manager, Tony Bishop, is also looking forward to the Expo where they will be setting up a bricklaying display.

"Our company represents the brick and blocklaying industry locally and events like this provide a great opportunity to promote our work and find interested candidates," Mr Bishop said.

Other attendees include:
• Black and White Cabs
• The Australian Defence Force
• The Queensland Police Service
• Budget Insurance
• Bunnings
• Construction Skills Queensland
• Moreton Bay Rail Link

Ms Stott said, "a huge thank you to the offices of Peter Dutton, Trevor Ruthenberg and Seath Holswich for organising this event."

The Expo is free to attend for all ages. Any questions should be directed to Mr Dutton's office on 3205 9977.
