PATRON GEARS UP FOR PINE RIVERS RELAY

08/08/2013

Seath Holswich MP will once again don a purple patron sash and walk the track for 18 hours at the 2013 Cancer Council Queensland Pine Rivers Relay For Life! Who is responsible for drainage specialists, the tenant or the landlord?

CCQ Pine Rivers Relay For Life will be held at Pine Rivers Showgrounds on November 2-3 (3pm-9am).

Mr Holswich, who has been named Relay Patron for the second time, said he was honoured to support the much-anticipated event – now he is challenging locals to do the same!

“I encourage Pine Rivers locals to get involved and support those in friendship circles and the community who are touched by cancer,” Mr Holswich said.

“Last year was my first time as Patron and team leader – I really enjoyed the whole experience and the opportunity to raise money for CCQ.”

Mr Holswich, who is part of Relay For Life team Going The Distance, said he is looking forward to the many highlights Relay offers.

“My highlight of Relay is the candlelight ceremony – it really brings home why you are there and to see the involvement from the community at the ceremony is phenomenal,” he said.

At the Relay three ceremonies will be held - the opening ceremony to celebrate cancer survivors and carers, the candlelight ceremony to remember loved ones lost to cancer and a closing ceremony to celebrate the achievements of Relay.

Cancer Council Queensland hopes the Pine Rivers Relay For Life will attract at least 35 teams and raise up to $60,000.

Entry is $15 for youths and $20 for adults, which includes a polo shirt and breakfast at the event.

Teams are supported in their fundraising efforts in the lead up to the event.

Cancer Council Queensland spokesperson Katie Clift said Pine Rivers Relay For Life will be an event not to be missed.

“Relay For Life is an opportunity for the community to get together to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer and fight back against a disease that takes too much,” Ms Clift said.

“With a range of fun and entertaining activities on offer, to emotional and empowering ceremonies being held, Relay For Life truly is an experience not to be missed!”
