Ensuring student safety on roads around two Bray Park schools is the catalyst behind a petition launched today by Seath Holswich MP.

Mr Holswich has launched a petition, with the support of the Principals of Bray Park State School and Holy Spirit Primary School, calling on the State Government to install flashing school zone signs in the school zone on Sparkes Rd and Kensington Way, which services both schools.

“Road safety around schools is always important and anything that can be done to improve road safety needs to be considered,” Mr Holswich said.

“There is nothing clearer to a motorist than a flashing speed sign to remind them to slow down around our schools.”

“Even as a parent of primary school children, there are some days when the 7am or 2pm starting times momentarily slip my mind, so the reminder provided by these signs is crucially important.”

The LNP State Government has committed $10 million to installing over 300 sets of lights at schools within four years.

“The roads around these schools are my highest priority school zone at this stage, and I’ll continue to fight to have flashing school zone lights installed outside these two schools as a matter of priority.”

“Ultimately I want to see these signs installed outside all Pine Rivers schools, and I will continue to fight for more of these signs until all schools have them installed.”

The petition can be downloaded from under the ‘Local Issues’ heading or contact the Pine Rivers Electorate Office on 3205 6779.
