QUALITY IMPROVEMENT FOR NORTH PINE WATER TREATMENT PLANT
$6.1 million for the 2013-14 financial year was confirmed in today's State Budget to improve water quality and environmental compliance at North Pine Water Treatment Plant.
Mr Seath Holswich, State Member for Pine Rivers, has welcomed the additional funding commitment.
"This allocation will provide funds for chemical dosing, sludge handling and filter upgrades at the Treatment Plant," Mr Holswich said.
"Maintenance works such as these may seem routine, but they are vital to ensure the on-going capacity of the Treatment Plant to supply water to our community safely and efficiently."
Mr Trevor Ruthenberg, State Member for Kallangur, echoed Mr Holswich's sentiments.
"We are very fortunate to have two picturesque lakes in our region, but as well as looking great, they are critically important to our on-going water security."
"This funding will ensure we are able to deliver good quality water to our region for years to come."
This year's allocation forms part of an overall project cost of $8.3 million.
