Local Schools Urged to Join Day of Action Against Bullying
Local State MPs are urging local schools to register for the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence to be held on Friday 15 March 2013.
Mr Trevor Ruthenberg, Member for Kallangur, said this year was the third annual National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence, and the campaign was gathering momentum in schools across Australia.
"On 15 March, the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence, local students will join hundreds of thousands of Australian students in taking a stand together against bullying and violence," Mr Ruthenberg said.
"They will stand proud with their school communities and say they will not tolerate any kind of bullying and violence in their schools."
"State and non-state schools can get involved in this important day by registering through the Bullying. No Way! Website."
"It is a great way to raise awareness of the issue and celebrate the wonderful things that local schools are doing to provide safe and supportive learning environments."
Mr Seath Holswich, Member for Pine Rivers, said there was a range of support materials available for schools, including the Stand Together 2013 curriculum resources.
"Bullying affects everyone involved, including the people who witness it, and the new resources for this year will help students to understand the role they play as active bystanders to bullying," Mr Holswich said.
