Holswich Offers Collection Point for Christmas Appeal Donations

26/11/2012

State Member for Pine Rivers, Mr Seath Holswich, is opening up his office as a collection point for two Christmas Appeals.

Mr Holswich is encouraging locals to think of others this Christmas and to buy one extra gift for someone in need.

"It is important that, as a community, we make the Christmas season special for those who are less fortunate than most," Mr Holswich said.

"I am asking all Pine Rivers residents to consider purchasing one extra gift when they do their Christmas shopping this year."

The Kids in Care Christmas Appeal, coordinated by the Department of Communities, aims to help more than 8,000 Queensland children who live in foster, kinship or residential care.

The Pine Rivers Neighbourhood Centre and the Pine Rivers Care Network are also running a Christmas Appeal for local families in need. Each year the Care Network provides in excess of 200 Christmas hampers to local families.

Suitable donations include:
• Gift vouchers worth $20 - $25 (for the Kids in Care Appeal)
• Canned vegetables or fruit
• Tinned meat
• Tinned puddings and long life custard
• Christmas cakes
• Biscuits, sweets and savouries
• Fruit juices and soft drinks

Donations can be left at the Pine Rivers Electorate Office - Shop 5A, 199 Gympie Rd, Strathpine.
