Final Stages of AJ Wyllie Northbound Bridgeworks
Replacement of the northbound AJ Wyllie Bridge on Gympie Road at Petrie is nearing completion with a change to traffic conditions scheduled on Tuesday 30th October.
Member for Kallangur Trevor Ruthenberg said construction of the new northbound bridge was on track to be open to two lanes later this year.
"A range of final works are scheduled over coming weeks," Mr Ruthenberg said.
"Starting from Tuesday, northbound traffic will travel further along Gympie Road before crossing to the southbound side."
"The change, which will remain in place until the new bridge is completed in December, is needed so construction of the new centre median and kerb near Leis Parade, as well as installation of light poles can be carried out safely."
Member for Pine Rivers Seath Holswich said there would also be a single lane closure early next week for night works.
"To prepare for the traffic change, night works are scheduled to occur on Monday, weather permitting, which will require a single lane closure between 9pm and 5am," Mr Holswich said.
"An asphalt ramp will be built and kerb works completed."
"Every effort will be made to minimise noise and traffic impacts during this time and there will be stop-go traffic control on site."
"We urge motorists to drive carefully and follow the directions of traffic controllers and roadwork's signage."
Aside from the single lane closure for night works, the southbound bridge will continue to have one lane of traffic open in each direction until the new bridge opens to traffic.
