Youngs Crossing Remains a Priority

01/10/2012

Pine Rivers MP, Mr Seath Holswich, has reaffirmed that finding a solution for Youngs Crossing remains high on his priority list for the Pine Rivers electorate.

Speaking in response to today's Courier Mail article, Mr Holswich said that whilst Youngs Crossing Road is a Council controlled road, it is going to need a joint approach from all levels of government to find an appropriate solution.

"It has been my position all along that in order to fix Youngs Crossing, all levels of government will need to be involved."

"Trevor Ruthenberg MP (Member for Kallangur) and myself are in regular communication with Moreton Bay Regional Council about Youngs Crossing and will continue to work closely with them on this important issue."

"There are a number of possibilities for fixing this outdated piece of road and I look forward to seeing a business case and proposal from Council that we can take to the Treasurer and Minister for Transport and Main Roads for further discussion."

Mr Holswich cautioned that there is no quick fix in the current economic climate.

"It's only a few weeks since the Treasurer handed down a tight budget for Queensland and it is clear that there simply aren't funds for any project of this sort at present."

"However, the time will come when an infrastructure project of significance such as this will be able to be considered, and we need to ensure we've got the business case ready to present when the time is right."
