Pine Rivers Hosts Argentine Parliamentarians

Pine Rivers MP, Mr Seath Holswich, last week hosted a delegation of Argentine Parliamentarians as part of the Australian Leadership Awards Fellowship.

The delegation were members of the Argentine Political Action Network who were in Brisbane last week to gain exposure to Australian best practice in good governance.

The visit to the Pine Rivers Electorate Office in Strathpine was designed to give the visiting Parliamentarians an increased understanding of community engagement techniques used by Australian MPs and how Australian MPs interact with the public.

Delegates quizzed Mr Holswich and a group of local business leaders over various aspects of Australian politics and the way a local MP engages with their community.

"It is evident that there are some very stark contrasts between the Australian and Argentine systems of government," Mr Holswich said.

"I was pleased to have the opportunity to answer questions about my role and the way I engage with my community."

The delegates were also treated to a morning tea comprising of produce and food sourced from within the Pine Rivers electorate.

"This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase Pine Rivers to an international audience."

The Australian Leadership Awards Fellowship is funded by AusAID and the Argentine delegation was hosted by Queensland University of Technology (QUT) during their visit.
