Petition - More Services on 669 Bus Route

(Last updated 23rd September 2013)

I am currently coordinating a petition for extra services on the 669 Bus Route. The petition can be downloaded here. Please return completed petitions to my office by Friday 15th November.

Pine Rivers Hoon Watch

Pine Rivers Hoon Watch gives residents and business owners the opportunity to assist police by reporting hooning activity in your neighbourhood. Hooning covers actions such as street racing, burnouts and dangerous driving.

Hooning is not necessarily linked to the type of car a person is driving. Just because someone drives a louder car or a modified car, that doesn't necessarily mean they are a hoon or dangerous driver. Statistics show that the majority of hooning offences are committed by drivers in standard, non-modified vehicles.

Download the Hoon Watch Flyer here and keep it on your fridge or beside your home phone so that you can report hooning if it happens in your street.

Pedestrian Lights, Gympie Rd & Leis Pde, Lawnton

(Last updated 18th February 2013)

Department of Transport and Main Roads will be undertaking works to make the temporary pedestrian signals permanent across Gympie Rd near the Leis Parade intersection, starting on Wednesday 20th February and finishing late February, weather permitting.

Reduced speed limits, traffic controllers and signage will be in place to safeguard motorists and road workers during the works.

These temporary pedestrian lights are being made permanent to allow pedestrians to cross Gympie Rd safely once the new Pine Rivers Neighbourhood Centre opens in March 2013.

Mount Mee Road Reconstruction Works

(Last updated 12th February 2013)

The Department of Transport and Main Roads would like to provide an update on the works to reconstruct Mount Mee Road.

Work is expected to be completed at a landslip site near Brodie Road this week, weather permitting, and the road at that location will return to two lanes.

Work will then move to another landslip site on the other side of the Mount Mee township near Damongah Lookout Park. This work will also require a single lane closure under temporary traffic signals. It is expected to be completed within several weeks.

On Wednesday 13 February 2013, there will be a single lane closure south of Ocean View during work hours while drainage outlet protection works are undertaken. Traffic controllers will be on site for this work.

The reconstruction works on Mount Mee Road are expected to be finished in the second quarter of 2013, weather permitting.

I have been contacted by business owners and motorists about various issues with the intersection of South Pine Rd & Leitchs Rd at Brendale. I have written to the Minister for Transport and Main Roads about these issues. His response can be viewed here

The Department is currently investigating traffic signal operation at the intersection to determine if changes can be made (including the potential to install right-turn arrows). This investigation is expected to be completed by March 2013.

The potential for extending right-turn lanes has been placed on a priority list for future funding.

Bray Park Railway Station go card Readers

(Last updated 21st January 2013)

I recently wrote to the Assistant Minister for Public Transport requesting that consideration be given to installing an additional go card reader on Platform 1 at Bray Park Railway Station.

The Assistant Minister's response outlines the reasons why a second reader hasn't been installed to date and acknolwedges that the request will be considered during the next review of  go card readers. You can read a copy of the Assistant Minister's reply here.

Lawnton Railway Station Parking - Eastern Side

(Last updated 5th December 2012)

The block of land used by commuters for car parking on the eastern side of Lawnton Railway Station is currently for sale. I have written to the Minister for Transport and Main Roads about this land, suggesting that the State Government consider purchasing the land for future car parking needs. Unfortunately at the current time, the State Government does not have funds available to purchase this land.

A copy of my letter and the response from the Minister is attached.
